MEET SARAH

Sarah Spund, LCPC, is a licensed therapist in Baltimore, Maryland, dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s transitions and challenges. She earned her Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Johns Hopkins University and has extensive experience working in diverse clinical settings, including the Kennedy Krieger Institute Neurobehavioral Outpatient Clinic, private practice, multiple school settings (spanning elementary to high school), and Key Point Health Services Clinic in Dundalk, MD.

Through both her professional and personal experiences, Sarah recognized a common struggle many individuals face—adapting to life’s changes and redefining their sense of self. After significant milestones in her own life, including becoming a mother, she encountered feelings of uncertainty and loss of identity. Realizing that these emotions were not unique to her, Sarah became passionate about helping others build the tools they need to navigate transitions with resilience. She firmly believes that healing is not a linear process and that learning to embrace change with authenticity is key to personal growth.

In addition to her work in mental health, Sarah’s background as a professional athlete shapes a core aspect of Maryland Mindfulness and Mental Performance Counseling, LLC. Having trained rigorously for years to reach the highest level of her sport before retiring in 2019, she deeply understands the challenges that come with transitioning out of an athletic career. The shift from a structured, high-performance lifestyle to everyday life presented an unexpected emotional challenge—one that many athletes face but are often unprepared for.

Maryland Mindfulness and Mental Performance Counseling, LLC was born from Sarah’s desire to create a supportive space where individuals can process life’s transitions, whether they stem from career changes, personal milestones, or the unique pressures of high-level athletics. With a foundation in both clinical expertise and firsthand experience, she is committed to helping clients find clarity, build resilience, and rediscover their path forward.

In Sarah’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family in the outdoors. She loves hanging out with her dog, Sargent Pepper, and catching up with friends.
